"Working in Gloo is not hard, but I need the time. When I work in Gloo, I want the focused time to get things done."

- Megan Marx-Varela, MPA, NCPRSS, Director of Integrated at ORTC

Imagine the need to train staff at five locations, soon to be six, as a pandemic hits and “in-person” is no longer an option. Here's what ORTC had to say about their work with Gloo's Engagement Solution.

Q: What is the biggest challenge you face today?

A: Time. We currently have five medication assisted treatment locations open in Oregon and opening our sixth location in Washington next week. Time is always a challenge, time for team members, time for clients, time for the Executive team.

Q: What are goals in the next year you’re looking to achieve?

A: More education for team members and clients at a pace that is convenient for everyone’s schedules. All team members and clients have access to educational and resource materials.

Q: What do you see as necessary to solve your challenge and achieve your goals?

A: Gloo is necessary to help ORTC solve our challenge and achieve our goals in 2021. We are really excited to use Gloo to assist our team members and clients in further education and assistance in recovery.

Q: What first excited you to work with Gloo and become a pilot partner on our Engagement Solution, which includes three applications, Assessments, Journey Studio, and Spaces?

A: ORTC was really excited to partner with Gloo because it seemed like a good fit for our organization. We had just started a pilot Matrix Model program and one of the concerns was team member training, who was going to train, how to train the team members and when to train the team members. Another concern was providing client resources, encouragement and education when team members were not available.

Q: Do you see Gloo’s Engagement Solution helping to take part in solving your biggest challenge?

A: Yes, Gloo’s Engagement Solution has helped train our team members on the Matrix Model. The team members can complete the trainings at their own pace and schedule. It also saves in resources because we don’t have to have someone physically on location or via video call to train.

Q: What successes have you seen so far?

A: Team members have the ability to complete all the Matrix Model modules at their own pace and we have 3 (almost 4) out of our 5 locations currently offering the Matrix Model program. Without Gloo, this may not have happened in 2020 due to travel restrictions and social distancing requirements.

Q: What about engagement? Have you seen improvement?

A: The team members that have participated in Gloo’s Engagement Solution have been actively engaged and excited about the process.

Q: As a pilot partner, what changes to Gloo’s Engagement Solution have you influenced?

A: ORTC has brought the real-world experience to the process, including the ACES, the Adverse Childhood Experiences assessment, as well as the Matrix Model, an evidence-based treatment practice. We’ve noticed that equipping team members with the right tools helps them to engage with the clients and creates greater connection.

Q: Where do you see Gloo innovating the most?

A: I would say, yes please, more of the same. I think what you’re doing is awesome. What you’re doing in the field will help us understand outcomes better and understand outcomes at a macro level once we begin to generate that data. We know outcomes are where we need to develop our understanding so we can better serve people over time.

Q: What would you tell other programs considering working with Gloo?

A: For Megan and I, this has been a great journey for both of us. We’ve watched you grow and we’ve grown. You’re always listening and taking our ideas and helping us to expand upon them and give us ideas. Great team players!
